Luke "I am a Jedi" Skywalker ([personal profile] farmboyjedi) wrote in [community profile] central_librarylogs2017-01-16 11:14 pm

Training task (Luke, 10, 4 and Trance)

He'd listened to the Librarian's talk and demonstration, still trying to take it all in. He wasn't as completely surprised as he surmised some of the others in the room might be. It was strange and new, but his life hadn't exactly been normal since he'd left Tattooine all those years ago. Most of the beings, human or otherwise, were strangers to him, although he was still coming to grips that somehow, Tarkin was here as well. He had what Han would call a bad feeling that they were going to squabble a lot before this was through. Part of Luke still wanted to kill the Imperial, after what he'd done to Leia and Alderaan. But, a Jedi did not seek revenge. He'd probably just do his best to stay out of Tarkin's way when they were all in here and not get into too many fights.

The books, apparently, were like portals or gates, passages to different worlds. The one his fingers ended up opening was...great, a farm. Just about the lowest thing on his list to see. Of course, raising crops and animals was a different thing than moisture farming in the desert, but he suspected there'd be some similarities, too.

He'd been told it was best to go about this with partners, so he'd talked to a few of others and there were four of them now as they prepared to step through the portal.

The entire orientation, Four could not keep the grin off his face. When the first book was opened and the portal flared to life, the smile reached his eyes and had stayed there. It was all so incomprehensible! Various worlds kept safe (relatively) and secure with in the bound pages of books! So many words to visit...to see and explore. Of course he felt the emptiness within his hearts that signaled his TARDIS was far from him. No ship, no companions. Even Gallifrey, mighty as they claimed themselves, could not reach him. He knew this; he had tried in vain. Perhaps a small bit of him missed that connection but for now there was exploration to be done!

"A farm? Not very exciting." He looked at those gathered, all humanoids. He can not place their species but there is something about the man in the suit that is...off putting. Perhaps it was the ears. Ignoring the man for now he turns towards Trace and Luke.

"Introductions should come first, I think. After all going 'excuse me, you' would get confusing after several attempts." He squinted at the area around them, slipping his hand in his pocket to look for something to munch on. "Dare say there doesn't look to be anything too pressing here."

Well, of course Trance was going to tag along onto this group of people. One of them had also been one of the first people she had actually met here. What better way to help out than with one of your newest friends, right? In fact, the way she had barnacled onto the group was saying, "Oh hey, it's The Doctor! Mind if I come along?," and so the three men also had a purple-skinned blonde with them.

In... Oh. It took a few moments for the scene to really sink in, and what it meant. It was an Earth that hadn't made contact with the other galaxies, pre-invasions, and before they started genetically enhancing themselves. At least, she couldn't imagine them being able to do so with how clean the world seemed. In a sense. It had a simple, young kind of beauty to it.

"Oh, yes," while he had moved a hand to a pocket, it didn't stop her from promptly offering hers for an chipper handshake. At the same time she held out her others towards the other man that she had also not met before. "Trance Gemini! Nice to meet you all. Though I'll say that, while I really love gardening and such..."

The devil-pointed tail raised up, giving a rather pointed wave back and forth. The tone of her words aren't very serious at all though, holding the very same bubbly energy from the beginning. "I'm gonna guess that I'll need something to cover up with as well. Unless people in book worlds don't react."

When Ten heard Trance's voice - The Doctor turns to her and smiles, "Course not." Giving her a sexy eye wink and stepping, though. She wants to help and does enjoy her company for a few reasons.

However, had he known that his other self-was going to be there - wouldn't have told Trance to follow him.

SCARFY! And could strangle his other for bringing up introductions. Of course, his younger self has no idea that someone else is also The Doctor and that switching to John Smith for Ten's self with Trance there would be suspicious and two people with both the name 'The Doctor' would also be odd. Or rather Ood.

If only Trance hadn't come off as suspicious at first with something in her knowing about having chosen his own name.

"Hallo. I'm The Doctor and this is my good friend John Smith." Ten waves with his fingers and smiles and then nudges the attention over to Four when 'John Smith' is mentioned, "Good to meet you all."
And takes any offered handshakes his way expect his other self.

"Alright!" Ten clasps his hands together, "Now, that's taken care of - Luke find something for Trance to be less suspicious and then you both - since you love gardening you've grown up on a farm - tend to the garden. And me and scarfy here will keep an eye out for any trouble. Good?"

Ten eyes around for any objections between them all. That or attach the trouble. The main point being Ten wanting to get his other self away from the group to talk about Trance.

Four shook Trace's hand, as well as Luke's. They both made vivid points about the reaction of one species to another. Even if Four saw nothing different or strange about Trace, primitive sentient species were a bit ridiculous with superstitions. Of course, anything he may have added to the conversation dried in his throat when the final of their little party introduced himself. Four's pale eyes widened and he could only stare at the younger seeming man.

The Doctor, not Doctor something or other, simply The Doctor. It, well it wasn't impossible. Nothing could truly fit into that awful word but it was certainly irregular! "John? I'm no-" And there was the clap, muffling any protest he may have given. "Yes. Trouble. Even the most peaceful looking place can bring that about." His gaze does not drift from Ten, focused on the younger seeming man completely.

Hang on.

"Scarfy?"

[[[OOC: So sorry, it slipped my mind. Trance also has a First Impressions page that may apply to your character's abilities/senses. ]

"Oh, this will be much easier," Trance added right after Luke mentioned a desert planet. But man, what a name to have. Luke Skywalker. "This is Earth, before they stripped the resources and their contact with the Commonwealth. Well, where I'm from at least. They'll probably think I'm a devil, or something like that."

It's actually really fascinating, having technically been the first time she really took any steps on the planet. It was nothing so spectacularly special in most ways, but the future it had was quite a thing on its own. Not particularly great, but instead notable. She was only able to ask "are you an ood too, John," with pure curiosity before the Doctor brought it all around to tasks. Not quite the leader-type as some others she knew, but hey. After already stating that she loved to garden, it all sounded well enough. Before getting started she wanted to give everyone a heads up. "Just try to be careful of getting exposed to anything unpleasant."

Earth was known for having plenty of diseases, and it was far worse before they made contact with the rest of the galaxy. She could only guess how much worse it was at this level of civilization. Otherwise, Trance was ready to link arms with Luke for their half of the job. "So, Luke. What kind of things did you grow on your farm?"
goodguess: (As they laugh at)

[personal profile] goodguess 2017-01-20 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, the Commonwealth is a system that was set up between over a million civilizations across the galaxies, working together," or at least it was. Then there was a civil war, which had complicated things for a little while. "But not all of the resources were stripped. Some things were renewable. Unfortunately, I can't say much about the details as I never really went there before. Most of what I know was learned through my friend, Harper."

She heard, but had also hoped that there was more than just that. "Oh... I hoped that the moisture farming also meant that it was being used for something else as well. Then again, that would make water a very desired resource. Your kind aren't native to that planet, are they? Usually you need things like plants and animals."

Trance wasn't about to assume that Luke was human because of his looks, after all. That would just be rude. The best that she remembered desert planets being used for, in recent history, is either for prisons or as a hideaway. Crouching down for a few seconds, the blonde presses against the ground for a second before digging up a pinch's worth to run between her index and thumb. "Either way, it might be a little different, but not hard if you're already used to physical labor. I'm sure the people here had something of a field nearby at some point."
goodguess: (Fun without all the guns and shooting)

It wasn't really out of the ordinary to her, which is why the war wasn't mentioned. Forces rise, dissent spawns from within or outside jealousy, and it falls for a time once again. Such as it has been for ages upon ages. New Republics and Galactic Alliances were part of that flow as well.

"Ah, I suppose that's the trick," she said with a quirk of a smile. "Your kind are usually able to adjust to the point that they can convince themselves they originated wherever they've landed. Though it sounds like a desert planet could've been a little abrasive."

You know, all that sand. Still, Trance scouted a little further, taking a moment to bounce a foot, or tail, against the ground. Even though there was a set up grounds sprawled ahead of them, the woman wanted to get more familiar with this planet while it was marginally younger. Gingerly picking up a cultivator with her tail, Trance continued further into the field. "Oh, definitely. Gardening is the easy part, and farming is just that on a wider scale. People are trickier, especially when they're scared."

She had seen the cruelty that could lead to, as well. While making a show of scanning the field, the woman could already feel and sense where things were in the growing process. What stage of life they were at. "Looks like we've got the fun part, though. Judging by the ready crops further down, the more empty looking ones should also have the root vegetables ready for digging up."
goodguess: (Not sure but let's go with it)

[personal profile] goodguess 2017-01-24 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"Especially in my time, your kind have. There's even a multitude of subspecies after the introduction of genetic engineering to a significant level," she said lightly, picking up a trowel with her long tail to hand over to Luke. "Some say getting dirty is the fun part. Now, if you push the blade in on the side of the mound and push it so it tilts back up, the root vegetables should come up with it. I can work on the carrots right on over."

She motioned to where the greens of said carrots were sticking out from the ground, flush and full of life. Hopping over to crouch down at the harvest, Trance was more than happy to continue the happy conversations as The Doctor and Mr Smith were taking care of their side of business. "What kind of things did you teach, Luke?"
goodguess: (I can get away with it)

This is also the signal for the Doctors to jump back in when they're ready (after your reply)

[personal profile] goodguess 2017-01-26 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"There's always at least one left, to keep darkness from taking everything," she said softly with a reminiscent smile. In her universe, all the universes she had seen, when one major group of protectors arose, or guardians of some kind, they managed to stay around in some way, even after nearly getting stamped out. It was sorta like hope in that way.

"Well, I didn't really grow up," Trance said obtusely, with that smile taking a playful shyness about it instead. "My kind were always in space, but were created and given ways to foster some kind of life. People, animals, plants... I don't know if it would count as farming, but taking care of these stages were always natural to us. It had to be, as we were left among ourselves instead of there being any formal teaching."

After pulling a good bunch of the ready carrots, the blonde gathered them in her arms to be moved over to a hand cart. "I must say though, you're pretty amazing. To rebuild everything on your own. That type of fortitude-"

The rest of her sentence wouldn't come out, however. It was an instant and oddly clean as the arrow pierced one side of Trance's throat, continued smoothly through the soft tissue, cartilage and arteries, and continued its trajectory on the other side. It landed into the recently turned over soil as the carrots were dropped with the body. Nothing splattered around though, so it's good to know that the blood censorship is active in the options. Though perhaps it wasn't the time for jokes?

Luke would not have to look hard. The trees seemed to shiver with an unseen wind as dozens of masked bandits came into view. Most were on foot but three, assumed the leaders, were riding horses. The villagers drew away, mothers pulling children into homes or carrying them out of the fields. "Drop your weapon stranger." The other raiders began to rush the village, taking anything they could grab; food, clothing, tools.

Four dashed through the trees. How idiotic! A band that small patrolling the trails? There was no way that would have been all of them. They were simple a reconnaissance party. which meant that the real danger would be back at the village and fields. A brief check was all he gave to ensure himself that his older was behind him before diving head long into the village. He could see Luke easily (what did the man have in his hand?) but no trace of Trace.

As for Trance, it was clear enough for Luke that she was beyond gone. If he had the chance of sensing anything before, even if faint or disconnected, was completely absent. While the sight of gore and blood was absent, the purple woman's throat was a dark, near black, purple that made it difficult to see what damage there may be. However her stillness on the ground, and expression, were more than enough sign.

Her eyes were still open, and mouth slightly agape as she had been talking when the projectile had struck. The carrots in arm were still fresh and clinging to the dirt that was pulled with them.

Dashing along Scarfy, Ten freezes. Where's Trance? Both his hearts take turn skipping a beat when his eyes fall on her. His face in shock. No one should have died. And feels that it's his fault that the two Doctors got too interested in himself that this is why this happened.

Then spots Luke weapon and stands by Luke holding up his Sonic Screwdriver and nudges his head over to Scarfy to come over by them two to form a triangle circle of three back to back.

Now, both of himselves will never feel their space-time sense again and Ten will never get to snog her.

To say the least, the expression on his face is fierce with his teeth showing

Four skidded to a stop next to Ten, his lips in a tight line as he gazed at the fallen figure. Habit hits and puts a hand on his other's shoulder, ignoring the fact that there should be flashing lights and splintering time lines at the touch. Instead there is only a warmth similar to his, and a shoulder nearly as thin. "Let's go, we need to help the villagers." Because Trace was gone, and there was little to do at the moment. The raiders were still forcing their efforts on the town and Four was hoping that the shiny, anachronistic weapon that Luke had would serve the man well until one of them could get to him.

"Peace? As we lay starving?" The apparent leader laughed, but his men stood away from Luke. The weapon, if that was a weapon, was nothing they had ever seen before. And as the main party began to fully infiltrate the fields and village, the leader and his hoard stood against the Jedi. "The woman is dead, you will join her!" An arrow flew towards the other man, intent on a death blow- but of course, these bandits have never encountered a master of the Force.

It is really good that Four offers his hand on Ten's shoulder because he needs to keep a grip on his compassion. He gives himself a small head nod in a silent 'thanks'.

Looking down at Trance's body, "I'm sorry. I'm so, so, sorry."

Then spots the arrow coming at Luke, oh HELL no and with his sonic screwdriver creates a sonic airwave and splits the arrow into pieces after the arrow is deflected. Ten eyes Luke for a moment.

"John's right. Come on."

"Later," Four mutters, his eyes never leaving his older self. There would be time to mourn later (even if it made little sense to the younger Doctor).

"Our families are innocent as well. We take what we can!" Another volley of arrows, even as more of the bandits are hesitating. The weapons and magicks these men were using...they had never seen anything like it.

The village is nearly in shambles, carts and straw strewn everywhere. "Get the food!" "Don't forget to check everywhere!" Voices shouted, mixing with the gutteral cries of farmers and stable boys who'd attempted to fight.

Things had gone too far, Four frowned and pushed his older self forward, "The man is old enough to decide if he should join us or stay here and turn these pathetic ones into something funny." He hoped their companion was wise to catch on to the deception. Scare them, Four tried to communicate with only eyes and tones, send them running.
goodguess: (All according to keikaku)

[personal profile] goodguess 2017-02-19 07:18 am (UTC)(link)
It just took the time for the older Doctor to look away from the corpse and for the three to focus on the volley for the body to wake back up. When no one gave her much attention, Trance was actually quite quick and stealthy when she needed to be. With the way that things go, the choices to be made, Trance trusted that Luke would make up for any reckless plans that the Doctor went for.

She couldn't fight multiple people or really defend carts and people. What Trance could do is draw attention and help with that scaring thing that John wanted to do and ease the workload of the real powerhouses. Enough talking and distraction should give someone better a chance to save those people.

"Or," the blonde declared loudly as one of the shooting bandits slowly passes out to the ground, the purple tail unwinding from his throat. He wasn't dead, but no one would know that until they checked. It was getting the attention that she wanted first, as she steadily walked towards the leader. Even if a bandit shot towards her, she wasn't going to flinch away from her target, or even dodge out of the way. They would either miss, or she'd catch the arrow with her hand or tail. What better way to scare them than with a demon? Despite how cute and inquisitive she was with Luke earlier, this was a tone much darker and with an intimidating weight that hadn't been witnessed before. "I can drag you all to a very, very bad place where your souls will face a dark punishment and your families will be cursed. Cursed with the consequences as they and everyone will know what you did, and that it's their fault. They'll be outcast, unable to support themselves in any way or allowed to earn their keep, until the shame and loneliness slowly and ultimately drags them down to us as well.

"Unless, of course, you really do care about your families. Then you can call off the attack, tend to the injured and clean everything up. If you finish helping with the harvest and explain the situation, some will be shared and no one will go hungry. Of course this is a limited time offer, and it's going fast."

Please let that be more than enough of a decoy.
