 The Central Library VALENTINE’S

Meet and Greet Event MEME

When one thinks of love and Valentine’s Day, one cannot help but imagine the fair cherub with his diaper and bow as he flies on white wings and strikes love into the hearts of young and old. It is a cherished and commercialized concept that has gone on forever. Cupid and his bow have made it into songs, legends, stories and even modern Valentine’s Day Cards.

But you see, he exists back in the ancient world of mythos and gods. And you see also, that he is a friend to the Head Librarian. One that he long had to say goodbye to many many centuries ago. Still, news has reached the Library that the ancient archer and son of Aphrodite has been robbed of his sacred bow and quiver. The arrows and love and hate used to guide the hearts of mortals is gone and the wake of mischief and even terrible things follow closely behind the disappearance.

The bow and quiver MUST be returned. But you must do this on your own. The Head Librarian cannot accompany you to this world. And the impish creature that has stolen the bow has taken its vengeance on the notion of love in a most peculiar way. Please be careful as things will not be full of hearts, flowers and candy for you this day.

Scenario 1LET THE WORLD FEEL MY HATE – The creature has taken quite a liking to the arrows of hate. It is indiscriminately shooting any in its path with these arrows and making a great many turn hostile. People are turning on those they once loved and attacking each other. Stop them in any way you can! People should not have to live with the sadness of losing one they love at their own hand!

Scenario 2EW! DISGUSTING LOVE! – Where he loves the arrows of hate, he is most disgusted by those of love. He is tossing them out as he pulls them from the quiver and leaving them wherever he goes without thought. And well, be careful as you collect them. They might just make you fall in love with the first thing you see. Be it your partner or even that poor cow just around the haystack. God forbid you see your own reflection!

Scenario 3 YOU ONLY WANTED TO HELP! – You see, the being hit the city leader you are in and now he is bitter and enraged by the thought of love. And that poor young couple.. They just wanted to get married! Well, now you’re in a jail and there is no arguing your way out of this one. Guess you better be a great escape artist!

Scenario 4ALMOST HAD HIM! – You caught up to him. You were SO CLOSE. But well, he just shot one of you with the arrow of hate. Things just got harder because your partner? They now want to stop you with everything they’ve got. Let’s just hope you can hold them off at least till someone retrieves the bow and gets it back to Cupid.

Scenario 5GIFT FROM THE GODDESS – Aphrodite is most displeased with the theft of her son’s bow. It besmirches her family and defames her precious child. She has offered you her greatest gift. Immunity. As the goddess of love and the mother of the archer, you are now immune to the works of the bow. But that doesn’t mean that you will escape the angry hordes separating you from getting to the goal of retrieving his bow. (If you pick this option, you will get an RNG Roll from the mod. Only those that roll a 15 to 20 will be granted the aid of nullification. Aphrodite will cure all of those before you of the spell. If you roll under this range, she will refuse to give you further aid.) Now go retrieve the bow!

Scenario 6I HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO – Well, maybe you aren’t the heroic type. Maybe the orientation left you too tired to cope. So you stay back in the Library to keep watch over the events going on with the Librarians that do not go. Whatever the reason, you stayed there. But you see, this problem doesn’t just stay in the ancient Grecian world of Mythos… it is seeping out. You see, it’s playing with your feelings. Literally. And you find things you once loved… feel far away and mean less and less to you.
