Who: Sebastian Carter Hokori-Anderson and Magnus Bane
What: First Meeting
When: Backdated to before the nightmare event begins.
Where: Top of the stairs in one of the atriums.
Warning: None at the moment.
Notes: Closed and backdated.

Sebastian chose this particular spot because it was close to the ceiling and farther away from most of the other residents. He preferred to be alone when he was reading to avoid distractions. And lately his life had been full of distractions. One in particular. He'd been having trouble getting Alec out of his head. With Alec came a long list of other things and when his mind was set on thinking about things he had trouble sleeping or focusing on simple tasks.

He should have known accepting this opportunity, staying here in the Library, would change a lot of things. But he'd never imagined meeting anyone who made him want more. And he wasn't even sure what the more was he wanted. To live? To smile? Even though smiling hurt, it wasn't a bad hurt. It was an ache, an empty space where Jack had been and had made him smile and laugh. And now Alec had made him smile. Alec had made him want to smile.

He closed his eyes, closed the book, and took a deep breath. In, out. Then began again on the same page of the book he was holding. Sitting on the floor at the top of the stairs gave him space and quiet and the view he loved so very much now. It really was beautiful here in the Library he thought, eyes drifting past the book to watch a little bird perched on the railing. How could he not love a place where birds randomly appeared and followed him around. How could he not love a place filled with books. The only thing he was missing was music. And Jack. So very much Jack.

And Alec he thought chewing on his bottom lip.

He remembered the way Alec had talked about Magnus. It was a familiar feeling and he was stupidly jealous that they were able to come here together. But he was also happy for them because he knew what it was like to live without the person who filled you up with emotions and made you feel worth something. No one had made him feel like he was worth anything in a very long time.

Except Alec.

He wondered if Alec had given Magnus the gifts he'd bought him at the tourist shop and how Magnus had reacted.

Deep breath. In, out. And he went back to reading the same paragraph. Again.

Instead of getting better, the world of the Central Library beyond the main entry hall has been getting darker. Things are starting to get colder and darker. The lights barely seem to break through the darkness even when they shine at their brightest.

Phase two has started, make your choice…

1. The nightmares are getting worse. They have gone from just leaving marks from injuries and dirt from wherever you went, but now… now people are being pulled into your dreams with you. They will have to live out the nightmare with you and the stakes are higher. You can die.

2. Ghosts are wandering the halls of the Library. They seem to be talking to someone, maybe from their life. Maybe you know them. Whatever the case is, the ghostly echoes of their voices send a chill down your spine. Listen carefully… it may be a warning. Maybe a message for a past long gone. Just be careful to know the friendly ghosts from the ones that want you to die…

3. Most of the ghosts that wander the shelves are only talking, but those that want to wreak their pain on others exist. Doors are appearing in strange places. They are dilapidated and ornate in ways you can’t even imagine. They have a Japanese feel to them and you might be curious to enter the rooms beyond… the floors are broken where once beautiful wood floors and tatami mats once were. It’s dark and desperately cold… and there will always be a ghost waiting to make you suffer their pain within. You can’t kill them… but if you have the right tool…

4. People that have lost people and feel guilty for surviving (they must feel guilty!) are noticing that tattoos are spreading on their skin. There has been a tattoo maiden that has managed to touch you at some point in your dreams and now you are seeing her in random places in dreams and when awake. In fact… she’s following you… and it might be wise to not let her touch you again.

5. Crimson butterflies are starting to flutter about the library, leaving trails of sparkling embers. You don’t know why they are there, but they seem to be following some people about, specifically ghosts or twins. They leave behind an ominous feeling and should one touch you, you are hit with vivid scenes of twins being forced to strangle the eldest of the set… and in one, darkness swallows the world because the sacrifice failed…

6. One door seems to remain, dark and ominous branching off from the shadowy aisle of folklore. Should you walk through, you may see one of a few scenes… Little girls are running in a game of demon tag… but the moment the last is caught the scene melts away. A dark room is replaced with a girl screaming in fear. She’s tied to a chair before a noh mask with spikes in the eye is shoved onto her face. The screaming is unreal… And even with the girl dies and blood drips to the floor, people fade away with cries of ‘my eyes!’ echoing in the darkness. Be still. Be silent. Maybe she won’t find you.

7. Wild Card: remember it is Fatal Frame styled, but you are free to bring in your own demons... anything bad can happen. The shadows are taking definitive shape.

(PLEASE ASK IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS! Also, you need the Camera Obscura to kill ghosts, there are FIVE hidden all over the Library. If you want to be a candidate for the carrier of the camera... speak up in Plurk when this link is posted!)

It is a warm, fall day in one of the most beautiful areas of the North American Wilderness. Yellowstone National Park is renowned for its natural wonders and the majestic creatures that live on its protected lands. Unfortunately some of the wildlife that has found its way into Yellowstone are not native to the Park.

While exploring the Forest, Bambi, Thumper, and their woodland friends scampered into a new area to play. Excited by the chance to explore the group has decided to see what friends and adventures they can find. Friend Owl flies beside them, hooting warnings at the group. “These woods are not safe,” he warns, but the youngsters are too excited to listen.

Catching sight of a strange looking deer, Bambi and Faline bound off to find out why his antlers look different than the Great Prince of the Forest’s. Thumper and his bunny friends hop off to find a tasty bit of clover to nibble on. At first Flower stays near Friend Owl but soon he’s just as curious as the rest, exploring fallen logs and looking for potential dens.

While the group rambles and plays, the other creatures in the park are slowly beginning to notice the newcomers. The days are growing shorter and the weather is turning colder. It is time to prepare for winter and these young creatures might make a tasty meal. Along with the potentially dangerous wildlife to avoid, there are also tourists and park rangers to evade.

The Head Librarian has cloaked the woodland creatures so that they seem like the animals that the park rangers and tourists would expect but there are limits to these disguises. If an unsuspecting visitor chanced upon the animals, they might hear something unexpected. The Librarians would prefer that none of the locals have a conversation with Thumper but he is a chatty rabbit.

Your team will enter through the blue white portal and step out into one of the meadows in Yellowstone Park. Find the woodland creatures before they encounter a danger they cannot escape … catch them. Bring them back to safety and make sure that nothing or no one harms them.

[OOC: This is for Team: Bambi Squad only. You will play out tracking our woodland friends, collecting Bambi and the other creatures from the Forest, and returning them home. This is ONLY for team work and getting things done. If you have questions, you can call for Bob the Skull or The Cat to help you. Bob will be running communications. Once you finish the event (or at the same time if you will), patrons may use this time to use portals to enter Modern day Yellowstone National Park and visit the tourist areas, shops, lodges, and restaurants in a private log. But not in the team log.]

Update!  To help the event conclude, options are being provided to help organize the groups.  These can be tagged meme style to help give more structure to the tasks.  Current threads can be completed and new ones started.

Options

1.  Finding Bambi and Faline!  Is it really that easy to tell two talking deer from the rest of the herd?  Now you get to find out!

2.  Wrangling the Woodland Friends!  Thumper, Flower, Friend Owl need to be gathered up so that they can return home.  Be careful that you don't frighten them away!

3.  Avoiding the Locals!  Please keep the park rangers and tourists from noticing the talking animals.  That's not as easy to explain away as some might think.

4.  Fending off the Wildlife!  Yellowstone has its share of carnivores.  Make sure the wolves, cougars, and other predators don't find a tasty storybook snack.

The main hall had been, for lack of a better word, taken over. It shined more than usual and everything was cleared from the floors to make room for the elegant décor of a royal ball. How, no one knows, the invitations were posted throughout the library, inviting all to attend the Ball in honor of the ‘prince’ seeking his future bride.

How or why this came to pass without even a slight questioning, no one even knows. But the feeling, the presence of the restless characters infecting those inhabiting the library is getting stronger. Just like Cinderella can’t stay past midnight, your time is winding down. If you do not return your stowaway personality by midnight…. You may be stuck with the dual personality forever.

The ball is starting soon… how will you arrive? Everyone is invited.

[OOC: This is phase two of the event, a ball thrown by Magnus. You can either have your thread start before the ball starts or during. But it's time to start getting your tag-alongs home. This ends on July 31st. Please enjoy!]

Once upon a time an enchantment crept through the Library, winding through the stacks and slipping amongst the shelves. Those that were touched by this classical magic might find themselves seeing things that they had thought were impossible or finding themselves bursting into song. Some may find themselves wishing for love or adventure, perhaps even both. While others find themselves acting as vagabond or prince.

With the enchantment came a menagerie of flora and fauna, but not to worry. Gardens bloom with fanciful flowers and the darker aisles begin to resemble a forest instead of the more mundane shelves. Strange birds break up the Library's hush and mice scurry from shelf to table, whispering of lost Princesses. These woodland creatures are not to be feared... unless someone has stumbled into the more Grimm areas of the Fiction section. Although the spell is only beginning, the patrons touched by its magic may act strangely or find themselves slightly - or more than slightly - changed by the enchantment.

Remember that this is only be beginning of our Tale. Other wonders and mysteries will soon appear...

((ooc: This post is for to help get the event underway. Players can tag in to start their own mini plots and interact with others. Please treat it like a meme (action or prose depending on the players preferences) tag new people and have fun!))
