Whistle while you work... (I couldn't resist)
Who: OPEN!
What: He's getting a little obsessed with the cleaning thing and not realizing it.
When: June 25th
Where: Amongst the shelves of the fiction section... it's really dusty you know.
Warnings:
Notes:
If he really stopped himself to think about it, he would remember that he disliked cleaning. Had Erestor handed him a broom back in Imladris, he would have found a way to decorate it to look like Erestor and left it in a hall to be found by one of the servants. Perhaps... just maybe, he'd done that a few times. So maybe he ended up cleaning out countless stables and working endless hours in the kitchen for his and his twin's antics.
His heart panged at the thought of his missing twin, as he gracefully climbed the shelves to wipe down the books delicately, his long ebony hair tied up in a ribbon. So... he started to sing very quietly as he moved over the shelf, careful not to miss anything. He never realized just how nice and distracting cleaning was... it honestly started to pull his thoughts away from his Ada and brother still back in Middle-Earth.
At some point he removed his armor, leaving a deep blue light tunic in its stead. The armor, though leather, just felt too heavy in that moment. A tiny voice told him he should have heeded the Librarian's words about not being alone in among the books, but the dark haired elf seemed to forget everything while working. In fact, he left his swords neatly against the bottom shelf in exchange for the bucket and rags he used to clean with.

As of late though, it was as if the more stoic aspects he'd picked up had been plucked away and left Fili far more..charming than he'd ever been before.
He'd been overly kind and courteous to everyone he'd met--even the elves--and had gone out of his way a number of times to help with various things here and there around the library. It felt like something was missing, though, something that he couldn't quite figure out and that was frustrating.
Moreso than why he felt the need to just be overly nice to everyone.
Wandering into through the fiction shelves, Fili had absently began to hum along to a tune that was in his head--or so he thought--arms tucked behind his back as he read over some of the titles that were still legible. He was just passing one row of shelves when he caught sight of someone cleaning, pausing where he was as he realized the song this individual--whom he didn't recognize just yet--was singing was the one he was humming.
Strange...
Fili took a few steps down the isle, noting the swords resting against the shelf with a touch of a frown.
"..You should not leave yourself unarmed in this place. I have heard it is most unwise."
no subject
Not that his annoyance showed in his movements. No, he did not even stop his song.
The only thing that stopped him from his work was the sound of another's voice. A voice that broke through his song and intense concentration that he jumped. A move that ended up causing him to stumbled down from his place on the high shelves. "Oof!" Catching one of the last shelves he slid down, he managed not to look like an entirely accident prone elf.
However, it did make a mess of his hair. Some stayed obediently in the ribbon while the rest fell into his face and scattered over his shoulders. Scrunching his nose, he smoothed his hair from his eyes and suddenly smiled brightly with a touch of laughter in his voice. "Ah! Master Fili! It is truly good to see you." Elrohir, from birth, always had a friendly disposition once you got to know him... but this was even more open and welcoming than he ever allowed himself to be.
A brilliant smile pulled at his lips as his eyes found the dwarf's, the rare, utterly unexpected faint flush kissing at pale cheeks.
no subject
"Master Elrohir," he mused, slowly lowering his hand as a smile pulled at his lips. "It is good to see you as well. This library is quite a large place; I have yet to see many familiar faces." So it was always nice when he finally did run into one.
Especially such a handsome one--
Wait.
The dwarf blinked, mulling that thought over as he studied the elf, unable to shake the odd attraction he felt. Especially when the other flushed like that.
"...How have you been fairing?"
no subject
Boldly moving closer, he reached out and caught the dwarf's hand, gray eyes bright. "There is a market place off the main hall... have you seen it? It is so lovely, but I did not go through the doors."
A strange fear had caught him at the sight of possibly other people discovering him, so he fled back to the shelves and wondered at strange details... like leaves and the song of birds.
"I have only thought I faired well until you have come to brighten my day further."
no subject
"It would be an absolute pleasure to stay in your company, Master Elrohir," he mused with a nod of his head though his gaze never left his companion. It was almost impossible to look away from the other, something about him--something Fili hadn't noticed before--keeping him captivated.
"I have, yes. You should give it a chance, it is quite fascinated to visit." The blonde tilted his head slightly. "We could go together sometime, if you would like such a thing." Because the more time he got to spend with the other, the better.
For some reason.
He didn't have long to dwell on that, though, because Elrohir spoke again and a pleased chuckle escaped Fili before he could stop himself.
"I fear you are wrong in that statement, Elrohir, for it is you that have brightened my day."
no subject
"I would very much like to see that place. It seems lovely from the glimpses I have stolen of the place." And it should not be so bad as long as Fili remained at his side. the slight fear of being seen did not trouble him so much then.
A soft musical laugh left him as Fili turned the compliment back on him. Almost shyly, he swept his hair back to curl around the pointed ears. It was a nervous habit he had not fallen into since he was but an elfling. And yet his heart felt lighter and happier than even then.
"Then I shall endeavor to keep it as bright as I possibly can, my dear Fili."
no subject
Beautiful? What.
"Hm? Oh, no, nothing of too much importance. My brother has wandered off and I was keeping an eye out for him but he is capable of taking care of himself." Most of the time. His lips pulled into another smile at the other's acceptance of his offer. "We will have to go then. I would love to show you all I discovered and I have heard that it changes all the time."
Which was so strange and mystifying; this entire library was really.
That laugh sent a warm wave through the dwarf, his eyes tracking the other's motions, enjoying the nervous edge to it and feeling almost giddy that he was able to put the other in this state.
"Please do. Your smile could brighten even the darkest nights, I bet. It is a honor to be graced with it."
no subject
Brother... yes, he suddenly remembered his twin and felt the heavy wait of missing him flood in. Breathing in slowly, he smiled at the other. "It is most troubling regardless when we cannot find our brothers even if we know they are safe." An excited light danced in his eyes as he met the younger's gaze. "If you take me, I will find foods to prepare for you. I am, in fact, a good cook..." And he so terribly wanted apples all of a sudden.
"If you lead, I will follow." Surprisingly, he meant that in the deepest of faiths.
Unconsciously, as his fingers slipped down out of his hair, they caught the silken ebony strands a moment before freeing themselves. Ah, but he could not remember blushing quite like this before. How strange. And the smile... yes, Elrohir rarely smiled for any but family. Especially to this level of brilliance. "You flatter me so... but you are right... I am not normally so easily pushed to such a smile. It must be the company."
no subject
His thoughts strayed away from that of his brother as Elrohir promised to cook for him, smiling warmly at the idea of a home cooked meal made for him by such a lovely creature.
"I would be honored to dine with you over whatever you decide to cook," he mused before he stepped closer, turning slightly as he offered his arm to the elf. "Shall we then?"
Because neither of them were doing anything more important, right? Right. (In the back of his mind, he was chastising himself for not finding Kili but it was a muffled murmur really.)
A chuckle escapes Fili at the compliment, well aware that this was turning into a battle of praise. "Well then I shall have to stay in your company as often as I can, if only to see such a smile every day."
no subject
Sliding his hand into the offered arm, he grinned. "Then I should put that together with haste for you." Nodding in affirmation, he realized he would follow the dwarf wherever he led right now if only to just talk to him.
Maybe not all of this was strange. He truly found that he did like the younger's presence more than he ever suspected he could of any but his family.
"I hope that you will do just that." The elf liked the idea of Fili spending time with him often as he could. He truly hoped that he would. "Otherwise I will be quite melancholy should I not see you so often."
no subject
"Only after we have experienced the market in full, though," he mused in a matter-of-fact sort of way, smiling not faltering in the least as he started to lead the other towards where he knew the market waited for them.
"I suppose we will have to make our visits together a more common thing, then. I would hate to see any sort of melancholy on your face." Oh the sincerity that his words dripped with. He would do anything to make this elf happy.
no subject
"Should my brother ever arrive, we should see if we can play at a little mischief ourselves. It might be a lot of fun actually." Now that... that request came from the heart. Elrohir missed being free. Perhaps that human blood in his veins really pushed for him to be a little less repressed than the rest of his kin.
Even still, he nodded to the mention of truly enjoying the market. "I think that would truly be best." He might have bounced with the excitement, but he did not wish to break the hold of his arm in Fili's.
"We should, indeed. I would love to meet your brother as well." Even though he tried not to linger on the thought, he smiled to himself with another warm blush over paler than even normal skin. "I hope I can return the favor in kind. You have a lovely smile." Did.. he just say that out loud?

He paused as he heard someone cleaning but Glorfindel was not alarmed. He had his sword at his hip just in case but he was not ready to draw it as he slowly approached. He did not forget about the fact that there could be dangers lurking in the shadows but when he came around a shelf to see Elrohir, a huge grin appeared on his face.
"I never thought I would see you cleaning on your own without Erestor standing behind you with his arms crossed," he teased with a laugh as he looked up at the younger Elf. He was relieved that he had found him, he didn't want Elrohir to be on his own even if he was capable of taking care of himself.
no subject
Really, he should check himself to see nothing is the matter, but he found no reason to. "It is so good to see you! I did not know you were here."
Without a thought, all of the withdrawn nature of elves evaporated and the younger son of Elrond swept forward to hug his long time tutor and hero.
no subject
"I've just arrived. I haven't seen anyone but Ecthelion here from our world here until I saw you," he said as he let him go a little, a fond smile upon his lips. "Come, you can stay with us," he said as he wrapped an arm around the younger elf's shoulders. Not that Elrohir would have much choice as Glorfindel was completely dedicated to Elrond and his family, even in this world.
no subject
Hugging the elder tighter, he looped his arm through the other's and grinned brilliantly. It did help that Glorfindel was more willing to hug and touch than others. Elrohir pushed often enough to get such things from Elrond, but Glorfindel and his siblings were the only others.
Leaning his head on the other's shoulder, he grinned. "I met Ecthelion. He plays the flute as beautifully as you said he did! You must be so happy to be reunited with him! Are you sure I will not be in the way?"
no subject
"I am happy he is here though, and you will not be in the way." Glorfindel was overjoyed to be reunited with Ecthelion but he would not let that get in the way of looking after Elrohir, who he had seen grow up over the centuries. Aside from being of Turgon's line, Glorfindel adored the twins and would look after them no matter what.
no subject
No matter how much of an elfling he felt with Glorfindel, he would never grow out of that affection or need for it. "I would hope not." He suddenly felt that pang for Elladan and he leaned against the blonde. "I miss my brother..." Like someone might miss an entire part of them. It left him feeling lost and scared and it hurt. He would have given his immortality to stay with Elladan. what his twin chose, he would chose... and now his brother was not with him.
no subject
Glorfindel frowned in concerned, worried more for Elrohir. He had never known the twins to be separated for long and he knew the pain Elrond felt at being separated from his own twin for good. It was not an easy burden to carry. "I know he misses you too. Though I know no one can replace him, Elrohir, you are not alone," he said before he gathered the younger elf into his arms again. He would do everything he could for Elrohir and he knew Ecthelion would as well. Elrohir would not lack for love here at least.
no subject
At least it took some of the sorrow off of his heart that nagged at him so deeply. Elladan... he would give anything to see Elladan right then. "I know... You have always been there for me." It simply felt like half of his soul was missing. A feeling he never had to endure before because they stayed so close. Leaning into the elder, he buried his face into his chest like a child. "I will endure... for withering away when I know he is still out there is out of the question..."
no subject
There was no replacing a lost twin though, he knew that, but Glorfindel could try to make the pain less. His own happiness paled when Elrohir was so unhappy and he would do everything he could for the younger elf.
