The Enchantment
Once upon a time an enchantment crept through the Library, winding through the stacks and slipping amongst the shelves. Those that were touched by this classical magic might find themselves seeing things that they had thought were impossible or finding themselves bursting into song. Some may find themselves wishing for love or adventure, perhaps even both. While others find themselves acting as vagabond or prince.
With the enchantment came a menagerie of flora and fauna, but not to worry. Gardens bloom with fanciful flowers and the darker aisles begin to resemble a forest instead of the more mundane shelves. Strange birds break up the Library's hush and mice scurry from shelf to table, whispering of lost Princesses. These woodland creatures are not to be feared... unless someone has stumbled into the more Grimm areas of the Fiction section. Although the spell is only beginning, the patrons touched by its magic may act strangely or find themselves slightly - or more than slightly - changed by the enchantment.
Remember that this is only be beginning of our Tale. Other wonders and mysteries will soon appear...

"True. I suppose I should clean more." Smiling at that, he kissed the corner of Alec's lips sweetly. He found himself strangely more doting than before, but he didn't feel like stopping or even pulling away. Magnus wasn't always so careless. Maybe being away from their world gave him more comfort? He wasn't sure.
Curiously, he slid his thumbs over too warm cheeks. He never got used to ever getting even the slightest flush out of the Nephilim. It made him want to just sweep the other off his feet and that right there was not exactly his most characteristic thought... especially considering this was Alec. And the idea of carrying a shadowhunter that wasn't injured seemed like sacrilege. Or... well... unless Alec actually wanted him to.
Letting his fingertips drift down Alec's cheeks to his neck, he hummed thoughtfully. "I'm not sure... is there anything that comes to mind you want to sing?"

Humming softly at the kiss, he leaned in and stole another, sweet and chaste, before pulling away to look up at his boyfriend. It was odd that he wasn't worried about someone seeing them. Around their friends they didn't think of it but in public they both knew to be cautious when they didn't know how others might react to seeing two men together. Maybe they both felt safer here. Or maybe this was another sign that Alec was accepting himself after years of hiding.
"Cleaning is my job, not yours." That didn't sound quite right. They'd always shared chores, even if Magnus usually used magic to do what was needed around the apartment. Repairing the Library was something they were both supposed to work on. Weird.
His blush brightened and his breath caught as he was caught up in the strange impulse to fling his arms around Magnus' neck and... and what? Run away together? Let Magnus carry him away to their room?
The odd thought disappeared when Magnus' fingers slid over the rune on his neck and he had to fight back a shiver. It was really unfair sometimes how Magnus could distract him with that spot. "I - uh - The only thing I can think of is a song from a movie Izzy liked when she was little." Why that song? One of the few things from Mundane culture that had ever seriously interested Alec was music. He should be able to think of a dozen songs yet one from a children's movie was the only thing he could think of?
"A dream is a wish your heart makes." It should have been odd to sing that to Magnus but for some reason it seemed right.

In another time or place, he would have argued that. But for some reason he simply hummed a noncommittal sound. Something stirred inside saying he was silly for not denying it, but it felt muffled in the back of his mind. Either way, he was too busy running his gaze over the blush in the younger's cheeks in fascination. Did Alec really blush so easily? It looked so... cute on him.
Either way, he dipped in and cupped Alec's cheek as he kissed him again. Nibbling at his lower lip, he grinned. "You look ridiculously attractive right now." He always found Alec to be just that, but today felt very different. Like a new flavor of attractive.
But he left it at that and wrapped his arms about Alec as he sang. After a while, he swayed with the younger almost in the beginnings of dancing. He really wanted to dance with Alec. Something he'd been avoiding cause Catarina told him it would be wise not to dance in front of Alec till the boy was sure never to leave him from poor dancing skills. But that thought felt so very far away...
Instead all he could do was hold the nephilim close and move them both to the sound of the other's voice.

Except... for some reason he did want to get dressed up. Maybe not with the glitter but in one of the old fashioned styles he'd read about in the book Magnus had given him. That should have made him wonder even if he didn't mind dressing up for their dates. He never wanted to wear velvets or elaborately decorated suits before. He wanted to walk into a room and be the only one Magnus noticed.
That was odd since he knew that that was true even when he wasn't dressed up. Their eyes were always drawn to each other. Magnus was one of the few who always saw him in all the ways that mattered. The thought worried him until Magnus kissed him again and then all he could think about was how right they were for each other. Perfect. "So do you. You're what I dreamed of when I allowed myself to believe I could be happy."
It had been a rare dream. His family and the Clave had made it seem impossible until Magnus had saved his life. But now he could be with the person he loved most.
Moving with his boyfriend, Alec continued singing softly, just loud enough so that the song was shared between the two of them. One led to another so easily that he never noticed that one had ended and the next had started until is voice began to tire and he started to hum instead, not noticing that their swaying had turned to one of the danced he'd learned years ago.
