The Enchantment
Once upon a time an enchantment crept through the Library, winding through the stacks and slipping amongst the shelves. Those that were touched by this classical magic might find themselves seeing things that they had thought were impossible or finding themselves bursting into song. Some may find themselves wishing for love or adventure, perhaps even both. While others find themselves acting as vagabond or prince.
With the enchantment came a menagerie of flora and fauna, but not to worry. Gardens bloom with fanciful flowers and the darker aisles begin to resemble a forest instead of the more mundane shelves. Strange birds break up the Library's hush and mice scurry from shelf to table, whispering of lost Princesses. These woodland creatures are not to be feared... unless someone has stumbled into the more Grimm areas of the Fiction section. Although the spell is only beginning, the patrons touched by its magic may act strangely or find themselves slightly - or more than slightly - changed by the enchantment.
Remember that this is only be beginning of our Tale. Other wonders and mysteries will soon appear...

Except... for some reason he did want to get dressed up. Maybe not with the glitter but in one of the old fashioned styles he'd read about in the book Magnus had given him. That should have made him wonder even if he didn't mind dressing up for their dates. He never wanted to wear velvets or elaborately decorated suits before. He wanted to walk into a room and be the only one Magnus noticed.
That was odd since he knew that that was true even when he wasn't dressed up. Their eyes were always drawn to each other. Magnus was one of the few who always saw him in all the ways that mattered. The thought worried him until Magnus kissed him again and then all he could think about was how right they were for each other. Perfect. "So do you. You're what I dreamed of when I allowed myself to believe I could be happy."
It had been a rare dream. His family and the Clave had made it seem impossible until Magnus had saved his life. But now he could be with the person he loved most.
Moving with his boyfriend, Alec continued singing softly, just loud enough so that the song was shared between the two of them. One led to another so easily that he never noticed that one had ended and the next had started until is voice began to tire and he started to hum instead, not noticing that their swaying had turned to one of the danced he'd learned years ago.
