AUGUST EVENT - UNICORN STAMPEDE
Welcome to the Wild West! The year is 1881 in a hot, desolate corner of the Arizona Territory. Soon it will become the site of one of the most infamous gunfights in history. But today, it’s not the Cowboys or the Earps that have the town buzzing with gossip. It’s the strange events that happened this morning.
Thanks to the Head Librarian’s efforts, the unicorns that invaded Tombstone seem like nothing more than herd of wild horses that have stampeded through town and decided to graze nearby. For some, this is merely a curiosity that adds to the local chatter but other see it as a moneymaking opportunity. Those pretty, white horses don’t seem to belong to any of the locals and even if they did, there’s a few horse thieves in town that will be tempted by the herd outside of town.
Your team will enter through the blue white portal and step out into the desert mining town of Tombstone. It is rough, wild place with few rules. There’s a feud brewing between the law and the Cowboys but these events cannot be changed without altering the history of many worlds. Although patrons can interact with the citizens of Tombstone, they must be careful. Strangers and drifters are expected in town but behavior that is beyond what is expected of normal might find themselves facing an angry mob or locked up in the local jail.
Although some might be tempted to meet Wyatt Earp and friends, and may see the famous lawmen, the Librarians discourage the kind of interactions that could lead to prison time.
Find the unicorns and bring them back while ensuring that the locals don’t notice anything unusual in town. Remember that the creatures are intelligent and wary of those who are not pure. Not all of our patrons may be seen as friendly by the ‘horses’. Do not hurt them or be offended it they seem to object to your life choices. Make sure that none of Tombstone’s citizens keeps any of the wild horses and make sure that no one learns of what will happen at the OK Corral.
[OOC: This is for Team: Unicorn Stampede only. You will play out rounding up the unicorns, and returning them home. This is ONLY for team work and getting things done. If you have questions, you can call for Bob the Skull or The Cat to help you. Bob will be running communications. Once you finish the event (or at the same time if you will), patrons may use this time to use portals to enter Tombstone, go shopping, or interact with the locals as long as they do not upset the events that are destined to occur. But not in the team log.]
Update! To help the event conclude, options are being provided to help organize the groups. These can be tagged meme style to help give more structure to the tasks. Current threads can be completed and new ones started.
Options
1. Distracting the locals - This could be keeping any curious residents from noticing anything strange about the 'wild horses' or it could be keeping any potential horse thieves from stealing a pretty pony or two.
2. Bait! or Unicorn Roundup - Remember that unicorns are picky about who they want to befriend. They may not like some people in the group. This could be hinder the roundup or be used to help get the unicorns back home.
3. Safety First! - The unicorns might not be as tranquil as expected. That means that there is a possibility of injury to a patron or one of the residents of Tombstone. Please make sure that no one important gets injured and history is rewritten!
Because well... they are going to have to meet eventually anyway...
Okay. Confession. He liked saying 'wrangle'. So what if he kind of liked the idea of being in Tombstone?
Either way, he groused at being in a desert town with no sunglasses and honestly, he was just hoping their clothes didn't make people look at them too strangely. He chose the more 'Maverick' look, probably too posh but at the same time he watched far more Westerns than he cared to admit while working endlessly on projects as a kid. But his mind digressed and he needed to handle the situation at hand...
"So... I don't know much about unicorns. Is it true they you know... like virgins? Or is that just something made up?" He didn't ask anyone in particular. Just something to break the silence.
Ahhhhhhhh
It could be a quest, if you believed in that kind of thing. The Asset wasn’t sure what he believed yet, other than this might help make him better. That in itself was saying something, that he knew he wasn’t well in one form or another. Memories were coming back slowly, as he needed them, and he wasn’t sure he liked it yet.
He stood there, waiting for the others to file in, only to glance over at the Stark. Tony Stark. There was something about him that in the back of his mind told him he didn’t want to get close to him. Something about a Stark that he only half remembers. He’s assuming it has to do with the business though, so he’s been brushing it off.
The comment would have made him smile, had he been used to smiling at all. Instead he just stared a moment, recalling what he does remember about the man, then shook his head. “In our cases, we better hope that isn’t true, or we’ll have to have the kids do the herding.” Kids are still virgins now a days, right?
\o/ ALL THE LOVE (Even if Tony is hoping Bucky doesn't shoot him...)
Okay, it bothered him slightly he shot Steve. But then, he did save Steve as well.
So, all in all, he felt nothing more than a nervous twinge at the base of his skull that told him that he didn't know how safe the other was. But he would try... you know for Steve's sake. "Kids or certain adults." He glanced over at Steve in curiosity then at the young adult that seemed far too awkward to have fallen into bed with anyone. Just saying...
"Guess the only way to find out is dangle them in front of their muzzles... It would possibly give us an edge."
(He wont, he swears)
Bucky doesn't think anything about it though. He's not here to hurt anyone. His mission isn't being ordered by anyone. The Head Librarian didn't TELL him to do this job. It's a mission of his choosing. He wants to help. He's not sure WHY he had to get listed to THIS job though. But it's okay.
He was safe, to you people at least. There were things righting itself in his brain and he wasn't exactly mindless. He could work with these people. When Tony said 'or certain adults' though he raised a brow. the glance the man gave was towards Rogers. his old target. The one person that is in too many of his memories.
He stared off at Rogers, then back to Stark. It was clear that it surprised him to hear that. He wasn't sure he wanted to comment on that at all though. He glanced back to Rogers, thinking.
"I'm sure he would be the first in line to walk out there and get their attention anyhow. If they try to turn on him though, I would rather he not get gored by a horn."
