"That it definitely was." he replied. "Especially when the sandstorms popped up. It's rough and gets all over and into everything and the day after is usually spent cleaning it out." Luke doesn't realize he sounds eerily like his dad once did. "And yeah, I guess we are pretty adaptable. We do seem to live on a lot of different worlds and adapt to a lot of different climates."
He's curious about her species, but doesn't want to push or sound rude. In the galaxy, she'd probably be called near-human, although he hasn't come across any with tails yet. Head ornaments, horns, head tails, yes, but not tails in the usual place.
He nodded as she talked about gardening. "I guess I do know a little. Where I teach, we can bring in some supplies, but it's also a big benefit to raise what we can of our own food. I don't often have time to get out with the group that's in charge of it, but I did read up about it a little bit and watch them some, so I'd have an idea what was going on." he said. He wasn't intending on bringing back agricorps or anything, but it was still nice that the academy was somewhat self-sufficient. Fruits and vegetables were raised or gathered in the jungle, animals were kept for meat and making fabric, ect. It was just faster than always bringing in everything given how long it could take to reach another planet, even in hyperspace.
"Yeah. I don't mind getting dirty, though, when I have to. I get the feeling finding a place to bathe'll be tough here, but I guess we'll make do. Won't be the first time I've dealt with it on a mission."
In hyperspace, there wasn't always a lot of room to clean or shave in an X-Wing, and pilots could smell pretty iffy by the time they landed. A couple days' worth of stubble was also typical. Same thing when he was on some missions on the ground-battle meant making do with what you had and putting the fighting first for as long as necessary to get through it.
