The 9th Hour... (Phase 1: Sept-Oct Event)
The cold presence is seeping in through the dark shadows. The darkness is reaching further, brushing the minds of the patrons and opening doors to dimensions that should not be open. Something wants in. But in the Central Library, there are ways to get through without crossing entirely… through your dreams. Among other things.
Pick one of the options below and make a post for other patrons to join you in the events. You may make up your own, but keep it matching the event at hand as the different phases of the event will progressively get worse.
1. Your dreams are getting dangerous, violent even. When you wake up, there are bruises and injuries that shouldn’t be there. What is going on? Why are your dreams becoming a reality little by little? And why is it getting so hard to wake up?
2. Things are shifting in the Library. The shadows are moving and the temperatures are starting to drop. There are cold spots that sometimes get colder and sometimes it feels like if you turn around, you’ll find someone right behind you.
3. The monsters are looking a bit more frantic and daring to come closer to the center of the Library where they normally will not tread. It seems you aren’t the only ones scared of the dark recesses any longer.
4. The Market is now a lovely little faire of the early Renaissance with all sorts of fresh grain, fruits and vegetables! It is a brilliant sight, but it seems the ominous plague masks they don still gives a foreboding feeling of the miasma that killed over two-thirds of the world’s population… Perhaps you shouldn’t wander very far.
5. New areas are now opened up. A blacksmith and workshop for the tinkers has been created. You might want to look or contribute... You might also want to stop in the new bath area. The large pool has a Grecian feel and all of the walls are made of crystalline glass where the stars are always shining with a different universe in constant succession.
6. Wild Card: Make up your own scenario. Just remember that all of the things above are happening. Things are getting foreboding and growing stronger by the day. Sleep will be a luxury you might not have… You may not see what’s coming, not yet. But you know it’s coming.
Re: Multiple-prompts
"I'm fine." He said quietly. "This isn't the worst thing to happen to me."
It was true. And he smiled a little at Casey because it was true.
Re: Multiple-prompts
Casey was willing to let it lay there though, if Sebastian didn't want to share.
"Besides, we're in a giant magical library with portals to other dimensions. Who says there isn't something in the shadows?" Nevermind that yes, Casey DID have experience with something similar to this. Somethings, to be exact; and if they showed their furry little butts, he was going to show them why he wasn't to be messed with.
Re: Multiple-prompts
The portals. Sebastian hadn't thought of that at all, not with the nightmares and the shadows. He'd thought it was just him until he'd met some of the others on his way to the bath. And then he'd thought it was the magic here. Maybe a book had been opened or something had escaped. To be honest, he hadn't been trying to think of answer or solve a riddle or anything. He'd been trying to pretend everything was still fine because nothing could be worse than than what he'd already been through.
But maybe Casey was right. What if something had come in from another world, another place, and was causing all of this?
"Wouldn't the Cat or one of the other Librarians notice if a portal was left open?"
Re: Multiple-prompts
"Seriously though, you want me to show you how to just swing the bat and lend it to you?" Big sign of concern there, as Casey is tilting his head and watching the other teen.
Re: Multiple-prompts
He tried for a comforting little smile, but it felt awkward and lacking in sincerity.
Re: Multiple-prompts
A few steps away, Casey keeping his back to a wall. "So, believe me or don't, Casey Jones doesn't care. But if you see multi-colored beavers with gnarly buck teeth that have wicked claws, call me. I owe them a few rounds of thrashing."
Re: Multiple-prompts
Re: Multiple-prompts
He is entirely serious and matter of fact.
Re: Multiple-prompts
Sebastian focused more on that rather than how bothered he was by Casey's reaction. He remembered how hard it was to wake up.
"How would they cause the nightmares?"
Re: Multiple-prompts
Too many shadows in this area for his comfort.
Re: Multiple-prompts
He would follow Casey because he wanted to know and because he didn't dislike Casey. Especially remembering how sincere his concern had been.
But then he was sure he could hear rain and for a moment the overwhelming sensation of someone standing right behind him. He reached for Casey's bat and swung hard without thinking. But nothing was there.
Re: Multiple-prompts
Calmer than he felt from the sudden shift in Sebastian's behavior, he got in a better position, pulling out his hockey-stick just in case. Peering behind Sebastian, before moving to flip up the mask once more. "No one there. See why I'm jumpy?" Also his way of asking if the other was alright...
Re: Multiple-prompts
"No. He was there." Maybe not the real Christian Scott, but something like him. He squeezed the bat tight in his hand for a moment and then held it out for Casey. "I'm not like you. I won't carry a bat around. But don't think that means I won't defend myself."
Re: Multiple-prompts
Re: Multiple-prompts
He'd thrown punches, fought back, Christian was too strong and had more experience. He was also bigger and heavier and enjoyed catching Sebastian off guard.
"Bullies aren't exactly fair fighters. That's why they're called bullies."
Re: Multiple-prompts
Fight 'fair' in the wrong circumstances, and you ended up dead.
"Besides, a 'fight' has nothing to do with fair or not. So you need to get that kind of distinction out of your brain, bookworm." Words of wisdom from Casey Jones.
Re: Multiple-prompts
Sebastian didn't like admitting any of this to anyone. He didn't want people to feel sorry for him. "I'm not weak. I'm just..not...like them."
Re: Multiple-prompts
"Don't have to be like them. You just have to know how to take care of yourself." Murmured more quietly, almost like Casey was thinking. "For them, it's about knocking you down. For you, it's about survival." Casey'd seen plenty of bullies in his time. Had a few encounters himself; not any more.
Re: Multiple-prompts
Why did everyone either want to hurt him or want to change him?
"It's brighter here." Sebastian noted quietly as they moved closer to the main desk. He knew this area a bit better because he'd spent so much time here cleaning and admiring the books, reading what was safe.
