The 9th Hour... (Phase 1: Sept-Oct Event)
The cold presence is seeping in through the dark shadows. The darkness is reaching further, brushing the minds of the patrons and opening doors to dimensions that should not be open. Something wants in. But in the Central Library, there are ways to get through without crossing entirely… through your dreams. Among other things.
Pick one of the options below and make a post for other patrons to join you in the events. You may make up your own, but keep it matching the event at hand as the different phases of the event will progressively get worse.
1. Your dreams are getting dangerous, violent even. When you wake up, there are bruises and injuries that shouldn’t be there. What is going on? Why are your dreams becoming a reality little by little? And why is it getting so hard to wake up?
2. Things are shifting in the Library. The shadows are moving and the temperatures are starting to drop. There are cold spots that sometimes get colder and sometimes it feels like if you turn around, you’ll find someone right behind you.
3. The monsters are looking a bit more frantic and daring to come closer to the center of the Library where they normally will not tread. It seems you aren’t the only ones scared of the dark recesses any longer.
4. The Market is now a lovely little faire of the early Renaissance with all sorts of fresh grain, fruits and vegetables! It is a brilliant sight, but it seems the ominous plague masks they don still gives a foreboding feeling of the miasma that killed over two-thirds of the world’s population… Perhaps you shouldn’t wander very far.
5. New areas are now opened up. A blacksmith and workshop for the tinkers has been created. You might want to look or contribute... You might also want to stop in the new bath area. The large pool has a Grecian feel and all of the walls are made of crystalline glass where the stars are always shining with a different universe in constant succession.
6. Wild Card: Make up your own scenario. Just remember that all of the things above are happening. Things are getting foreboding and growing stronger by the day. Sleep will be a luxury you might not have… You may not see what’s coming, not yet. But you know it’s coming.
It helps me sleep at night. (Oh man Belle would be GREAT here)
"Not exactly jumpy." She said at first, but glanced at him as he juggled the puck. "But I noticed you seem to have picked up on something." And then he stopped, sending the puck off down the way. She stopped as well, holding her breath and opening her ears.
There were sounds of the puck... but then something else. She took a slow, silent breath, eyes narrowing as she looked down the row of shelves they were walking along. "Okay..." time to go, right?
The creature on their case stopped movement now as well, though his tail swished, and there might have been a low growl, about fifty feet ahead of them, just near another opening...
Sleep is for the weak!
Poopoo on you!
"Maybe it was nothing. Maybe it was..." She couldn't even lie and say the wind. She frowned, glancing at him. "What do you have on you?
:-p Nah, I love sleep. Really. I should get more of it...
"I also have a taser." A second or two, and then Casey pulled out the bat, handing it to Clara. Better than nothing, right?
I want more of it too but... roleplay.. /reaches
She said, taking a step backwards but not too far from her young companion.
There was a figure in a dimly lit space ahead of them, stepping out to glare at them. A wolf of sorts. Though this one looked mangy and dark. A bit bigger than a normal wolf. Dark eyes, almost red. She didn't know it but others had dealt with these kind of creatures before.
/reaches for too. Right now this is my distraction from RL!
it's a good distraction
She said, having glanced back only to freeze now. There was another wolf, a bit smaller, standing another 40 feet behind them... the one ahead of them was creeping towards them as well.
Re: it's a good distraction
Best to take the beast by surprise, right?

They needed a plan. An escape. Her mind was buzzing in thoughts. There was a pass through coming up, on their left. And one of the right just past the first wolf. The right was the way they wanted to go.
The left, she realized, had another wolf blocking the way, snapping at Casey as he came closer to it.
The first wolf snapped his jaws and growled loudly, fully intending to try and take on the boy in his attack. Be careful it doesn't get hold of that hockey stick, or it might not be a hockey stick no more.

"I'm open to suggestions!" He called, smacking at the snout, pulling out his goalie-stick too. Dual-wielding time now and managing to keep the sticks from the wolf-jaws at least.

As Casey was near again, asking for suggestions, she took a moment, umm'ed and... grabbed one of his cans of spray paint. "Run?" She said as suggestion, pointing forward to where he knocked the large wolf down. There was an opening up past it. Mean while she took the can of paint, darted forward to snapping wolf three and sprayed it in it's face and mouth, staring to move by it as she did. It tried to snap at her, but inhaling paint and being blinded, the wolf whimpered, growled and tried to shake it's head as it backed away.
One would shocked and down? Check. One wolf spray painted in the face and blinded? Check. One... behind them, dazed and confused but starting to get to it's feet again? Double Check. Don't mind her if she starts to run ahead of you, Casey. You have two sticks.

It's playing his song.
"You know where we're going?" A quick step or two, skates unretracting to slip beneath his shoes, as he's eyeing the third one. As at home on the roller-blades as he is on the ice, allowing him to move backwards more easily while eyeing their opponents.
no subject
Sorry, Casey, but she's leaving the battling up to you for right now, trying to get ahead. She jinked right and through the passage way, darting into another room of the library, still full of books. She started across the room.
"Ah... yeah?" She called back as he asked if she knew where we were going. Sure! Sure she did! In this room there was a spiral stair case to a second floor and a large sitting chair. "How well can wolves climb steps, do you think?" She had an idea.

At least Casey was cheery about it, as he kept smacking at the creature, trying to keep the other two in his awareness. Especially since the blinded one managed to slam into him. Into the bookcase--ow.
Ducking, pivoting, hockey stick placed away in favor of the heavier goalie one. Especially as it was used to smack jaws away from his mask. "Man, when did you last brush?!" Another smack, and he was skating backwards for space, an exploding puck pulled out, firecracker-fuse crackling. "Go fetch!" Smack! and the projectile headed for the third-wolf, as blinded was sniffing.
Manic laughter followed the sound of the explosion.

Also, what was with all the bad PUNS? Not that she minded, but he sounded like he was having FUN. Oh heck, he sounded like the Doctor. In trouble and loving it. She nearly jumped though at the small explosion. "Holy--what did you do?!" And she hit the steps long before he would get there. Well, not too long, but she had a good distance as he fended them off. She started up the round as best she could. "Up. Up. Up."
And if he follows or not, she's rounding up to the top. It's narrow, so Casey might have some trouble with sticks and skates, but the wolves will have issues too. The moment she hit the top she tried to drag the reading chair across the floor, scraping it as she did. Keep them busy, Casey!!

Several more pucks heading into the wolves in rapid-fire succession. Casey was trying to figure out how to put more space between them all without damaging the books. Another two exploding pucks, and he's skating into view of the stair-case rapidly.
"Oh, THAT kind of stairs." No worse than a fire-escape, as he's sheathing the goalie-stick and sort of scrambling up and around as he quickly as he can. His skates retracted once more, resting against his shins, and about halfway up he's throwing another exploding puck down to buy them more time before scrambling the rest of the way up.
Rolling out of the way of Clara with the reading-chair.

One thing she has learned, he has a lot of tricks tucked away on his person, so she wasn't too worried. She did run with the bat still, just in case it was needed. Shoving a chair with a bat in her hand she refused to let it go, using it to help push. And just as Casey made it up, she shoved the chair with a great huff, trying to wedge it into the steps. "Give me a hand!" She called, and heaved again.
Someone will have to come back later and clean this up, and it might as well be her, but she's pretty sure no one will mind what they've done right now. None of the shelves or books are hurt at the moment, so it was all good, right?
If a wolf came up at all it would have to contend with a large chair in it's way, blocked off by a pole and railing and unable to go over it. If a wolf came up she figure one of them can hit it, but she didn't intend to stay long.
"Through that arch way, we go forward, left, forward, right and we should be near the center. " She said in a huff, really wanting to take a breath for a moment and knowing they cant.

"Rest later, run now. I'm running out of ammo." Which was not good, as he wasn't sure when he'd be able to get more of it. "Definitely going to that bath-house too." Because now he was starting to feel the bruises.
no subject
But she ran, skidding into a wall as she hit a corner, and kept up as best she could. Hell, for all she knew they weren't even being chased right now. If they can get to the baths they can hide there, right? "This better not be a thing. With you. Being chased. That's twice now!"

She darted around the corner with him and started to slow in her steps, huffing now for breath. She is in shape, yes, and she and the Doctor do a lot of running, but she's not ninja, and there are breaks to do cleaver things with the Doctor.
"I think... the coast... is clear." She said, more hopeful than not. At least the new Bath house was in view?
no subject
NOW he is starting to feel those bruises, as the adrenaline is wearing off. "How was I to know we'd be stalked by giant wolves? Where did those things come from anyways?" Flipping back up the hockey-mask, so he can breath a bit easier.
no subject
She would sit with him, but she's worried that once she got down she was never getting up again. Instead he leaned over, hands on her knees and sucked in a breath to hold. Let it out and sighed, trying to slow her heart rate and breathing.
"Books. From books, I think. Outer edges of the library. They tell us to be careful out there. Creatures from books, I think. I've only heard it in passing. I kind of showed up here and ended up on an outing before I got to settle in." She huffed again, backing up into a wall and leaning on it, head down a bit. Oh gosh.
"Never... seen them in so close. They don't come that close in. Something must be attracting them or scaring them in. Or... invading. I don't know. Someone else mentioned it. That things were weird. the library was wrong. Maybe that's it."
no subject
"I mean, earlier I felt like things were always out of the corner of my eye. I've dealt with enough strange things that a magic library being haunted isn't all that odd." So maybe something really was going on.
no subject
"You too? I noticed a few things this morning, but I didn't see anything. Then I found the new Market place. It changes appearance off and on I hear. Oh gosh, I can't wait to sleep tonight." She'll regret sleeping, later. "I suppose I needed that work out."
