The 9th Hour... (Phase 1: Sept-Oct Event)
The cold presence is seeping in through the dark shadows. The darkness is reaching further, brushing the minds of the patrons and opening doors to dimensions that should not be open. Something wants in. But in the Central Library, there are ways to get through without crossing entirely… through your dreams. Among other things.
Pick one of the options below and make a post for other patrons to join you in the events. You may make up your own, but keep it matching the event at hand as the different phases of the event will progressively get worse.
1. Your dreams are getting dangerous, violent even. When you wake up, there are bruises and injuries that shouldn’t be there. What is going on? Why are your dreams becoming a reality little by little? And why is it getting so hard to wake up?
2. Things are shifting in the Library. The shadows are moving and the temperatures are starting to drop. There are cold spots that sometimes get colder and sometimes it feels like if you turn around, you’ll find someone right behind you.
3. The monsters are looking a bit more frantic and daring to come closer to the center of the Library where they normally will not tread. It seems you aren’t the only ones scared of the dark recesses any longer.
4. The Market is now a lovely little faire of the early Renaissance with all sorts of fresh grain, fruits and vegetables! It is a brilliant sight, but it seems the ominous plague masks they don still gives a foreboding feeling of the miasma that killed over two-thirds of the world’s population… Perhaps you shouldn’t wander very far.
5. New areas are now opened up. A blacksmith and workshop for the tinkers has been created. You might want to look or contribute... You might also want to stop in the new bath area. The large pool has a Grecian feel and all of the walls are made of crystalline glass where the stars are always shining with a different universe in constant succession.
6. Wild Card: Make up your own scenario. Just remember that all of the things above are happening. Things are getting foreboding and growing stronger by the day. Sleep will be a luxury you might not have… You may not see what’s coming, not yet. But you know it’s coming.

Then again, given recent events in Casey's life, maybe they'd rethink it being a way to signal aliens.
"Still been here longer than me. I arrived only a few days ago. Been exploring since. Haven't seen any creatures yet though." At least, not that weren't out of the corner of his eye and he couldn't be sure were real.

"Stone-henge was neat though. The party set up right in the center and just made a huge mess. We had to help clear them out, clean it up and keep the Law from trying to arrest people." She chuckled, grinning over at him. "It was a bit more fun then tracking Bambi down, I bet." What? She liked her group!
"But yeah, I suppose you are a bit new. A few days and already being chased by an angry mob."
no subject
"I can help with the labor stuff too, especially if it means we get more amenities." Fixing bookshelves would SO not be more difficult than fixing up the hot rod. Maybe he'd be lucky and be able to get a bicycle among those amenities they'd get for fixing things up.
"You took being in the Faire there well though. What kind of traveling are you used to?" Maybe she'd just been in the library long-enough, but there was an ease to all of it that was nagging in Casey's brain about her.
you saw nothing...
And right now COULD be a bad situation. Creatures had been coming in closer to the center of the library, and though nothing was visible at the moment, the path they were taking right now was being mirrored by something near by. Shadowy, furry, possibly a wolf like creature stalking them. Whoops.
"That would be nice. I don't think there is any real direction to anything. You just kind of jump in where you can. Patrols or protection or clean up."
She blinked and tilted her head at the question. "Hmm..." Did it matter if she told the truth or not? Eh. "A friend of mine has a blue box that travels time and space. So... all kinds of traveling, I suppose." Truth it is.
I saw EVERYTHING! (And Casey'd so flirt with her...)
Casey was considerably less jumpy than before, but the adrenaline hadn't quite left yet. Especially as they were moving more into the Library proper, and he started seeing...something...out of the corner of his eye. Just gonna keep walking, and casually pull out a hockey stick and normal puck, and idly juggle it/move it along the floor.
Don't mind him, really. He'd been learning, even if he wasn't ninja-trained. Experience (and Raph) and a few poundings were good teachers.
LIES! YOU SAW NOTHING (Oh Casey... Honey. Child.)
"Not many people just roll with that." She walked past a row of shelves, past an opening towards the row on the other side of them. Not looking through it as they went. "And if you don't ask, I might. I'm a bit curious to the patrols myself." She now started to pat down her little shoulder bag to find her bookmark. If Casey glanced back to the opening/passage way they just passed, he might have caught a large bushy tail. What ever it was was walking beside them and a few paces back, but in the other row.
I must not tell lies... (She's a feisty red-head, she is SO HIS TYPE.).)
Well, fine until they'd gotten a mob angry.
But he was feeling jumpy again like he had been when he'd run into Sebastian earlier. Maybe it was just because libraries were always spooky places. This place being a magic library just made it extra spooky, right?
There is no lie to tell, as you saw nothing (just be glad i didn't app her here)
She was typing however, to make a text post for everyone. Or at least typing down notes, curious. Still, she glanced over at her young companion as he played with the hockey stick of his and said nothing. Her brow raised at that. He's distracted.
"Then there was the massive fire that ate the entire west wing of the library, bringing out zombies from every book that had a person in it." No, that was clearly a lie, but she was wondering if he was paying attention.
That wonder made HER pay more attention to what was around them now. She didn't see anything though. Turning to walk backwards she nonchalantly peeked behind them, seeing nothing. Hmm.
The wolf was ahead of them now. Something others had fought before, but generally not this close inside the library. Clearly something must be driving them inward. But, alas, as they cross past another opening to the other row of books, nothing else passed as well, as it had already gone up ahead a ways.
Whatever makes you happy to believe. (I can't decide if she or Belle would be fit better)
Not that he's admitting weakness, not at all. "I know libraries can be creepy and all, but this one seems creepier than usual." Flipping his hockey mask back down for the moment, and juggling his puck as he looked ahead again. Stopping his movement, listening, and then sending the puck winging off at an angle down the corridor.
Still quiet, but listening. And he is SURE he heard something, now. Not just his imagination--that had definitely been movement.
It helps me sleep at night. (Oh man Belle would be GREAT here)
"Not exactly jumpy." She said at first, but glanced at him as he juggled the puck. "But I noticed you seem to have picked up on something." And then he stopped, sending the puck off down the way. She stopped as well, holding her breath and opening her ears.
There were sounds of the puck... but then something else. She took a slow, silent breath, eyes narrowing as she looked down the row of shelves they were walking along. "Okay..." time to go, right?
The creature on their case stopped movement now as well, though his tail swished, and there might have been a low growl, about fifty feet ahead of them, just near another opening...
Sleep is for the weak!
Poopoo on you!
"Maybe it was nothing. Maybe it was..." She couldn't even lie and say the wind. She frowned, glancing at him. "What do you have on you?
:-p Nah, I love sleep. Really. I should get more of it...
"I also have a taser." A second or two, and then Casey pulled out the bat, handing it to Clara. Better than nothing, right?
I want more of it too but... roleplay.. /reaches
She said, taking a step backwards but not too far from her young companion.
There was a figure in a dimly lit space ahead of them, stepping out to glare at them. A wolf of sorts. Though this one looked mangy and dark. A bit bigger than a normal wolf. Dark eyes, almost red. She didn't know it but others had dealt with these kind of creatures before.
/reaches for too. Right now this is my distraction from RL!
it's a good distraction
She said, having glanced back only to freeze now. There was another wolf, a bit smaller, standing another 40 feet behind them... the one ahead of them was creeping towards them as well.
Re: it's a good distraction
Best to take the beast by surprise, right?

They needed a plan. An escape. Her mind was buzzing in thoughts. There was a pass through coming up, on their left. And one of the right just past the first wolf. The right was the way they wanted to go.
The left, she realized, had another wolf blocking the way, snapping at Casey as he came closer to it.
The first wolf snapped his jaws and growled loudly, fully intending to try and take on the boy in his attack. Be careful it doesn't get hold of that hockey stick, or it might not be a hockey stick no more.

"I'm open to suggestions!" He called, smacking at the snout, pulling out his goalie-stick too. Dual-wielding time now and managing to keep the sticks from the wolf-jaws at least.
no subject
As Casey was near again, asking for suggestions, she took a moment, umm'ed and... grabbed one of his cans of spray paint. "Run?" She said as suggestion, pointing forward to where he knocked the large wolf down. There was an opening up past it. Mean while she took the can of paint, darted forward to snapping wolf three and sprayed it in it's face and mouth, staring to move by it as she did. It tried to snap at her, but inhaling paint and being blinded, the wolf whimpered, growled and tried to shake it's head as it backed away.
One would shocked and down? Check. One wolf spray painted in the face and blinded? Check. One... behind them, dazed and confused but starting to get to it's feet again? Double Check. Don't mind her if she starts to run ahead of you, Casey. You have two sticks.

It's playing his song.
"You know where we're going?" A quick step or two, skates unretracting to slip beneath his shoes, as he's eyeing the third one. As at home on the roller-blades as he is on the ice, allowing him to move backwards more easily while eyeing their opponents.
no subject
Sorry, Casey, but she's leaving the battling up to you for right now, trying to get ahead. She jinked right and through the passage way, darting into another room of the library, still full of books. She started across the room.
"Ah... yeah?" She called back as he asked if she knew where we were going. Sure! Sure she did! In this room there was a spiral stair case to a second floor and a large sitting chair. "How well can wolves climb steps, do you think?" She had an idea.
no subject
At least Casey was cheery about it, as he kept smacking at the creature, trying to keep the other two in his awareness. Especially since the blinded one managed to slam into him. Into the bookcase--ow.
Ducking, pivoting, hockey stick placed away in favor of the heavier goalie one. Especially as it was used to smack jaws away from his mask. "Man, when did you last brush?!" Another smack, and he was skating backwards for space, an exploding puck pulled out, firecracker-fuse crackling. "Go fetch!" Smack! and the projectile headed for the third-wolf, as blinded was sniffing.
Manic laughter followed the sound of the explosion.

Also, what was with all the bad PUNS? Not that she minded, but he sounded like he was having FUN. Oh heck, he sounded like the Doctor. In trouble and loving it. She nearly jumped though at the small explosion. "Holy--what did you do?!" And she hit the steps long before he would get there. Well, not too long, but she had a good distance as he fended them off. She started up the round as best she could. "Up. Up. Up."
And if he follows or not, she's rounding up to the top. It's narrow, so Casey might have some trouble with sticks and skates, but the wolves will have issues too. The moment she hit the top she tried to drag the reading chair across the floor, scraping it as she did. Keep them busy, Casey!!

Several more pucks heading into the wolves in rapid-fire succession. Casey was trying to figure out how to put more space between them all without damaging the books. Another two exploding pucks, and he's skating into view of the stair-case rapidly.
"Oh, THAT kind of stairs." No worse than a fire-escape, as he's sheathing the goalie-stick and sort of scrambling up and around as he quickly as he can. His skates retracted once more, resting against his shins, and about halfway up he's throwing another exploding puck down to buy them more time before scrambling the rest of the way up.
Rolling out of the way of Clara with the reading-chair.
