He let the silence sink in at that. I need you to go on if you ever go back there without me.

Would the librarian be so cruel?

when she winces he does and he raises a hand to her cheek, running over her face with something like desperation in his gaze.

"When you get back we could...we could wedding plan. Find some books, I'll do that. Find books for your dress and ...rings and..." he sounds like a child, suggesting toys, suggesting games to play, "Because you're going to be my wife."

I owe you that.

He sniffs, "and I'm going to take care of you. and we're going to take care of this place."
