"In their world they are. They're sentient. Human isn't the only definition of 'people'." At least not for Alec since most of his friends weren't, technically, human. That made 'people' harder to define.

"Magnus is a warlock. That's why his eyes are different. It doesn't mean he's evil no matter what some people might think." He kept his tone level, but it's a sensitive subject and Alec had always tried to defend Magnus when his heritage came up. "You can't choose who your parents are.
