Or he could take a chance. Ignore the instinct to run away. He doubted there was another person alive like Jack who would waste their time chasing him down if he kept walking away. "To be honest I don't know about animals or tracking or anything useful. I came because I wanted to try and help and I couldn't resist stepping through a magical portal to another world. My world is pretty boring in comparison."
