He really did love Buddy. Buddy was one in a million. Watching him die had been the worst thing in the world.

"You're the only person for me."

But at that moment there's a smaller sadder looking chocolate lab who noses into his knee with a baleful look. The other puppies attempt to bark and play but the sadder puppy, with a chubby little stomach whines before nosing at his knee, then padding over to Kara and licking her jeans.

Then back to him.

"The only thing for me."

He pushes a pair of puppies away as sad puppy stares at him, tail tentatively wagging.

"What do you mean - you've been adopted?"
